An anniversary interview with Katie

Joe: What’s the best part about being married to moi?

Katie: Well, I really like the familiarity of marriage. I like that I know you better and better. I know when you’re angry, and usually I know why. And I know when you’re happy and excited and stressed out.

Joe: Happy and excited, huh?

Katie: Well, those are harder to tell. I also like how much fun we have.

Joe: What’s the worst part about being married to me?

Katie: When we’re not getting along.

Joe: What would you change about me?

Katie: I would make you try harder to understand where I’m coming from and not…bulldoze me so much when you’re talking.

Joe: In one word, describe me.

Katie: Italian. Do you wanna know why I said that?

Joe: Why’d you say that?

Katie: Because it encompasses a lot about your personality. You’re kind of…big and loud and expressive. And you’re handsome.

Joe: If I were a season, what season would I be and why?

Katie: Fall. Because I love it the most.

Joe: What are some of your favorite moments [from the last year]?

Katie: I liked when you made me a pound of bacon for breakfast on my birthday.

Joe: And you ate all of it.

Katie: You ate half of it.

I like when we go clothes shopping together for me. And I like when we go on road trips. …Even though we fight every time. Oh, and I liked the morning after we got Slinky, when we both woke up early and she was in our room and we played with her and you fell in love with her.

Joe: What have you learned from me?

Katie: Well, I learned that basically all meat should be cooked to a temperature of 165° F. Also, I learned what a true freshman is and I learned the names of a lot of football players and coaches. Now I can throw out terms that make me sounds like I know what I’m talking about

I’ve also learned a lot about perseverance and commitment, and what it really means to love someone, even when things are hard.
