About

Life has changed drastically since I made the lists below. For starters, I’m no longer the twenty-something in the tube top slurping a Burger King milkshake on date night. I’m not sure if I still own that tube top, but if I do, I’m pretty sure I won’t be wearing it ever again. (I will still take a milkshake, though.)

Second of all, date night…well, it’s been a while. About seven and a half months, to be specific. And the reason? Oh, she’s so totally worth it:

But still, I would go for a date night sometime this calendar year. It’s good to set goals, right?

Seriously, though, being mama to Gianna is both my favorite and my most challenging role ever. I’m on a steep learning curve that doesn’t seem to have an end in sight. I have awesome days (they usually involved two two-hour naps for at least one of us) and I have some pretty rough days (they usually involve lack of sleep and skewed perspective).

Despite all the changes of late, the following things still hold true:

Things I really love: my God, my husband, my family, my church and small group.

Little luxuries that make me happy: a good pen, making new friends, catching up with old friends, mate, blogging, honesty, a space to call my own, a weekend getaway, journaling, my kitten, the silence of my house in the early morning, laughing so hard I cry, trying new recipes, a well-placed curse word, overseas travel, the Spanish language, local pizza joints, funny things that kids say, date nights with Joe and trying new restaurants. To name a few.

A few things I’d rather avoid: blood and guts, the sound of styrofoam against anything, using a gas station restroom, Yankee winters and raw onions.
